A selection of the First Story students visited Downing College at Cambridge University for the Young Writers Festival 2024.
One of our students was invited to join the panel to interview the poet and novelist Dean Atta. Students had been asked to read his novel, Black Flamingo, and were invited to ask questions about the story and Dean’s life as a writer.
Our students took part in 2 writing workshops with authors Rachel Seiffert and Chrissy Lewis. We also had the opportunity to tour the university and speak to students about their life at Cambridge. Dean kindly signed copies of his books and took time to chat with people.
