Careers Overview

At Coop Academy Grange, we are dedicated to delivering a comprehensive program of Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance (CEIAG) for all students in Years 7-11, guided by the Gatsby Benchmarks. Our commitment extends beyond mere provision; we aim to cultivate a spectrum of outcomes for our young learners, aligning with the career and work-related learning objectives outlined in the Careers Development Institute's Framework for careers, employability, and enterprise education (April 2021). Our focus extends to tangible results such as fostering positive destinations, facilitating successful transitions, and continuously nurturing employability skills.

Our program unfolds through a meticulously designed spiral careers curriculum, integrated into Personal, Social, Health, and Citizenship Education (PSHCE). Complementing this, our innovative career spotlight strategy illuminates diverse career paths, educational routes and pathways, and Labour Market Information (LMI) within each subject area. Regular assemblies on options and pathways, along with informative events tailored for both students and parents, ensure comprehensive engagement.

We believe in providing first-hand exposure to the professional world, inviting employers and employees to share insights through enlightening talks and a wide range of internal workshops and external visits. Accessible Labour Market Information is also integrated into classroom activities and disseminated monthly through our careers' newsletter, offering a view of career sectors. Our calendar features themed events, including the celebrated National Apprenticeship Week and National Careers Week, designed to captivate and empower our learners, while also serving as gateways to a comprehensive array of Further Education (FE), Higher Education (HE), and vocational pathways, including apprenticeships and T levels.

Furthermore, our annual Careers Fair stands as a flagship event, facilitating meaningful interactions between students, local, and national employers and providers. This immersive experience transcends traditional boundaries, empowering our students to explore and engage with the rich tapestry of opportunities available to them, both locally and beyond.
